And now for something completely different.

I’m not sure to be offended about this, or think it’s hilarious. I’ll just go with hilarious for now since I don’t really feel like being angry right now. There’s a church whose plan for getting people to come to their Easter service is to give away TVs and Nintendo 3DS systems….OK….hrmmm…..Well, I can understand their reasoning here, they want people to show up so that they can try to show them God. Ok, I’m tracking with them there. Where they lose me though is this outright bribery. Most people going to this will be going for the chance of getting some sweet new toys, not because they have any interest in God. But hey, I hope that it works like the church thinks it will. That’d be a fairly interesting conversion story, “So yeah I found God that day…and I got a sweet 3DS!”

And that’s it. That’s 30 posts. It’s been sort of enjoyable writing this stuff, some posts were more fun than others. The Mancan post was especially amazing. But, This will be the end of the Professional Noob. Navy using video games as a teaching tool

Before you ask, no these games are not about killing people. Not all games are about killing people and violent games do not turn people into evil killing machines. Ok I’m sorry if I seem a wee bit touchy about that subject. ANYWAY yes the Navy is using simulation games with names like flood control, fire control and mass casualty to teach recruits how to handle damage control situations that may arise on their ships. From what the article says the program has been very effective too.

Apple is watching us…and by us I mean people with iPhones.

So, I just read this nice little article about how my iPhone has been tracking my location for the past few months. Now, I have 2 options in how I respond to this bit of news. Option 1: Throw my iPhone out my window, don my tinfoil hat and start coming up with conspiracy theories how Steve Jobs is watching me and is plotting to ruin my life. Option 2: Realize that I’ve nothing to really hide about my whereabouts and it’s not like I really go anywhere that often. So if there were some fiend watching my every move he has most likely gotten very bored with me and moved on to someone more interesting. But in all seriousness I can see how folks would be concerned about this, but the thing is Apple hasn’t responded to these allegations and really all we know is that iPhones track and store their user’s location. So as the article says, this may just be something required for a new feature for the iPhone that Apple hasn’t announced yet. So, for the time being I’ll choose option 2 and avoid the use of my tinfoil hat for this situation. That hat is needed for far more serious and pressing matters anyway.

Record breaking 100-ft tall Lego tower built in Brazil

Everyone loves Legos, these guys a bit more so than most apparently. I wonder what all you could build with the 500,000 bricks that went into this tower….in my case probly just a bunch of unidentifiable masses of plastic.

Man tries to rob store with a Playstaion controller… hilarity ensues.

Wow….I mean….just wow. Ok, title says it all. A guy in St. Petersburg Florida tried to rob a store with a Playstation 3 controller. I don’t even know what thought process went through this guys head here. Could he at least have spent the 5 bucks it costs to buy a plastic squirt gun or something?

So our military is about to have bullet proof undies….

Ok well not completely bullet proof, but still more armored than our pansy civilian grade boxers. This may register fairly high on my strange story meter, but new gear that keep soldiers safer is always a good thing. Also, talk of stainless steel cups in this article are just hilarious I think. Can you imagine the fear in some poor souls face after he shoots a guy in the crotch and he just keeps coming? Military tech at it’s finest here folks.

Time Travel baned in China…

Or rather, TV shows and movies that involve time travel. The sensors in China have always been a bit crazy, but there are just some things that make me scratch my head and wonder why this stuff is so bad to them.
